Day 1: Amsterdam, the city where it all began
Our organ study tour begins in one of Europe's most important cities, Amsterdam, a city that is central in the development of German organ music through the influence of its great "Orpheus," Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621). From here we will trace his influence through the organists of northern and central Germany taking us to some of the most important cities and churches that trace the evolution of organ music to its crowning achievement in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).
